The Race for Beacon
The Race for Beacon, known by Pikasistani scholars as the Pharos Conflict was an event where the Magnam Imperii made contact with most of its quadrantal neighbors. Whilst the outcome of the conflict is source of many academic debates, all agree this conflict is the profound cause of the rivalry between the Greater Imperium and the Thrashian Empire.
Prelude:
A Thrashian probe in an exploration mission found on the planet of Beacon a source of power that was seemingly unlimited. However, due to a malfunction in the probe's encryption system, the signal was broadcast to the entire sector, starting a race to claim the system. In an effort to appease the relations between the Greater Imperium and the Divine Sovereignty, the Houseidians invite the Pikasistani in the race... The Race for Beacon: As fleets begin to shunt in the system, broadband transmissions almost immediately began claiming territories within the system, notably the upstart |
Location: Beacon System, Beta Quadrant
Beligerants:
*Elements of the Peninsular presence fought alongside the Olimpiadan against the CASM |
nation of the Peninsular which claimed one of the system's asteroid belt, which was extremely rich in ressources. Yet, the real conflict began when the CASM appeared in the system, determined to claim the power source to fuel the expansion of their powerful Collective.
The Battle for Beacon:
As the Olimpiadans and Peninsular fleets engaged the blunt of the automatons' fleet further inside the solar system, the Pikasistani and Houseidian navies jumped in near orbit, the Pikasistani employing the summary calculations of an Houseidian AI to perform the jump, resulting in the loss of many ships. However, the two fleets jumped in close quarters battle with the Thrashian Navy, the Houseidians engaging them in a vicious battle as the Pikasistani were themselves caught by surprise by an outflanking splinter group of CASM vessels which delivered a devastating blow to the Pikasistani despite their small number, forcing the latter to employ the strongest weapon in their arsenal, the CHAW.
The usage of such a powerful weapon awoke the world of Beacon, which was apparently sentient, shielding itself and cutting off the surface from the battle above. However, CASM forces had managed to slip inside, pursued by Pikasistani Steel Wardens whilst Thrashian positions, to which Peninsular soldiers and Aumani crash survivors had rallied, opened fire on the incoming crafts. The battle ended in a bloody stalemate, none surviving to tell the tale on both sides.
Aftermath:
The battles which were now plaguing the once peaceful planet annoyed the sentient world of Beacon, which teleported all planetside 'outsiders' back on the ships they came from before vanishing, forcing the emergency escape of the belligerent.
Whilst the outcome for most nations is still unknown, some elements can be observed from the conflict. First and foremost, the reaction of the Thrashians to the Pikasistani rise was hostile to say the least. Secondly, the outcome of the conflict layed down the foundations of the Aumani-Peninsular alliance, a cornerstone of the Stepford-Arnau Trade and Military Accords. Finally, the analysis of the combat data showed profound issues with the Steel Wardens, prompting the end of the program.
