A-41 "Daedalus" Stratofighter
The A-41 "Daedalus" Stratofighter is the next generation of highly maneuverable atmospheric superiority fighters. It features many improvements over its predecessor, the A-31, notably in terms of stability, engine power and armament.
History: Originally designed at the turn of the century, the A-41 saw many delays as the Magnam Imperii rerouted resources to the Navy in the mids of an increase of tensions between Pikasis and Houseidou. Despite those setbacks, the A-41 was ment to completely replace the venerable A-31in the twilight years of the 58th century. However, the lack of relent of Houseidou over the then contested Ruzian System saw the A-41 delayed and further so as the Aesir Wars erupted. The war against the Aesir saw further modifications to the airplane, notably an upgrade of engines as the proposed graphene armor had to be replaced by stantard Grade 5 Titanium Alloy, increasing the weight of the plane, but also reducing its production cost and freeing the strategically critical graphene for the reconstruction of the PCC. As of 5909 AUC, the A-41 is finally starting to have a significant part within the Army, with roughly 14,4% of fighter squadrons now flying this plane. According to forecasts, this proportion should double in 5910 and compose the quasi totality of fighter squadrons by 5916 as production ramps up. |
